From the moment of arrival at your premises one is made to feel welcome – – and safely in the hands of professionals who care. Even though mine was a small job on a modest hatchback, your attitude and service was at a level in keeping with a much higher-value job.
Since returning home, as an ‘oldie, I have been ‘hibernating’ against the viral emergency. So, no chance yet to do a proper mileage test of the new seating posture. If, later on, I need a ‘minor mod.’, I will let you know.

Great adaptations needed hand controls has my ms has progressed to the point where I found it hard too 100% trust my driving with pedals.. Found using push and pull hand controls after a few familarisation lessons and a few miles around the local roads has given me the no worry feeling now … great company all round best discussion I made…

I had a seat fitted to my new motability car that means my wife can be brought completely out of the car on the seat and it is a game changer and has made the transfer to the wheelchair so much easier . The fitting was excellent and everything works brilliantly .

I decided to have hand controls fitted by JDHC following diagnosis of Charcot’s foot, a nasty disease requiring my right foot to be in plaster for four to six months or longer.
My Mercedes was adapted recently and whilst the hand controls take some getting used to, I am enjoying my freedom again.

I have been coming here for my hand controls since my first car a Ford Corsair was done by Jim when he was working for Midland Cylinder Rebores around 1973. Since then I have never considered any other make as Jims Designs are the best with royal treatment from all the staff.
Can’t believe it’s almost 10 years since he passed away. He must have been very proud of his sons Danny and Tommy continuing the business and traditions. I’m currently considering another car and will be doing the 250 mile round trip as distance does not matter when such quality engineering is used to solve virtually any driving issues.

I had my Astra fitted with a push-pull hand control by JDHC. I left my car with them, the drove me back home, and then they came and picked me back up and took me back to their workshop to collect my car, all on the same day ! They did a great job on my car ! It looks so good that it looks like original factory fitted equipment by Vauxall themselves ! I would highly recommend JDHC to any looking for any good quality adaptions to their vehicle. 10 out of 10 !

I am a completely satisfied with the adaptations that JDHC done for me . This is the second time I have used them in 6 years due to my change over of vehicle . I am 100%happy as before , they made my change over of vehicle so easy no stress free. The team at JDHC did a fantastic job on my brand-new Volvo V40. I have two other Subarus with Hand Controls fitted at different places and buy for JD HC have fitted the best most comfortable and responsive hand control system to date. Not only this, the way they are fitted is very unintrusive to the car and can be easily removed so much so you would never know that They had ever been fitted. Absolute master class in customer relations from first ‘phone call throughout installation of the hoist, to hand over briefing.
I was kept informed of progress at every turn and I must say that all the staff without exception were a joy to deal with.
Can’t imagine why anybody would go anywhere else !!!

I had purchased a new wheelchair since having my last car, so consideration of available space for the chair and a hoist was required. I was interested in several different makes and models of vehicles so I made several telephone calls to the company enquiring about the possibility of what might fit over a period of around a month. My calls were all treated with courtesy and professionalism, and queries were all answered within promised timescales. This was an enormous help to narrow my choice of vehicle. I have had adaptations fitted by Jim Doran and another company in the past and after my experience with the other company I was adamant I wanted Jim Doran to complete the work; this also influenced my choice of vehicle as some dealers stated they had a contract with another company.
Once my vehicle had arrived at the showroom arrangements were made to obtain the required hoist and chosen hand control as quickly as possible. My vehicle and chair were collected from the dealer once I had set the required height for the steering wheel, and delivered back to the dealership after a speedy (24 hour) turnaround, reducing my travelling to the minimum. I met 2 very pleasant and helpful members of the staff at the dealership to be shown how to use the hoist safely with my chair.
I cannot recommend the staff at Jim Doran too highly. Their work is excellent and I am very pleased with my hoist and hand control; mŷ previous control was not fitted safely by other company and caused me a great deal of difficulty when the intermittent problem was difficult to find and rectify. I have the utmost confidence in the company and look forward to continuing a long association with their wonderful staff. Thank you all very much.

I have just taken delivery of my third car fitted with a left foot accelerator conversion by JDHC. After my excellent experience of my first two cars, I had no hesitation in returning to them. The previous conversions were inconspicuous when fitted and completely reliable in their operation. The fact that, by pressing a switch, the car is returned to a conventional pedal layout for use by an able bodied driver, is a great bonus. The first few days of left foot accelerator use did require additional concentration after years of using a conventional pedal layout, but quickly became second nature and I would recommend such a conversion to anyone who has need of it.

Another wonderful job done so very happy and how quick you were to sort this out for me . I can’t thank you enough excellent work all and would be more than happy to recommend your service to others.

Jim first fitted my hand controls when working at Midland Cylinder Rebores and from when he set up on his own I have always had controls fitted by him and taken his advice. I am pleased to say that since Jim died the company is managed by his son and I am having the same excellent service and workmanship. I recommend the company.

The brilliant team at JDHC fitted my van with Space Drive controls in 2017 and I am completely made up with the job they did. I just recently passed my driving test which as you can imagine is truly liberating.
